Andria McClellan’s Fundraising From Virginians – Receives Highest Percentage of In-State Donors among Democrat LG Candidates
Following Impressive Fundraising Numbers, McClellan announces support from Key National Security Leaders
Norfolk Councilmember Andria McClellan, candidate for Lieutenant Governor, has raised $625,974 since announcing her race in December 2020 and ended the first quarter of 2021 with $406,153 cash on hand. Last week, she reported the highest percentage of in-state donors in the Democratic Field and the most amount of dollars raised from Virginians of any candidate running for Lieutenant Governor.
“I am so grateful to have the support of so many Virginians in my race for Lieutenant Governor,” said Councilmember Andria McClellan. “I’m running to create pathways to opportunity, address Virginia’s historic inequities, and break down barriers. My message of equitable access to opportunity is resonating with Virginians, and I look forward to putting my skills, knowledge and experience to work as the commonwealth’s first female Lieutenant Governor.”
Today, Councilmember McClellan also announced new endorsements from key national security leaders across the Commonwealth.
- Joseph Reynes, Major General, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
- Paul Olsen, Colonel, U.S. Army (ret.), former Commander of the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- Dave Belote, Colonel, U.S. Air Force (ret.)
- Butch Bracknell, Lt. Colonel, U.S. Marine Corp (ret.)
- Joe Bouchard, Captain, U.S. Navy (ret.)
- Nicole Carry, U.S. Navy Veteran, 1st Vice Chair of the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation
Norfolk is home to the world’s largest Naval base and houses the largest concentration of U.S. Navy forces.
“During my nearly 30 years of military service, I have learned that the most important thing a leader does is to set the right tone,” said Paul Olsen, Colonel, United States Army (ret.), former Commander of the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “Andria does this every day, then follows up with clear vision, deliberate leadership, and a proven ability to get even the toughest job done.”
These national security leaders join prior endorsers, 20-year Navy Veteran, Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) and Marine and former candidate for VA-05, Claire Russo.
“I am honored to have earned the support of these veterans and national security leaders,” said Councilmember Andria McClellan. “These veterans know Virginia needs a leader who has experience and the background, knowledge and network to get things done. I will address Virginia’s problems head on and will never back down from a fight.”
