Andria McClellan Shows Experience, Leadership, and a Clear Vision in Lieutenant Governor’s Debate
Andria McClellan showed her leadership and clear vision for both the commonwealth and the role of Lieutenant Governor during the Lieutenant Governor’s televised debate tonight. Through the primary campaign, McClellan has led the field with a clear and concise message for expanding equitable access to opportunity for all Virginians, and ensuring that no community gets left behind as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and economic fallout.
As the only candidate from Hampton Roads, representing the largest constituency of any Lieutenant Governor candidate and hailing from Norfolk, Andria McClellan is uniquely qualified to go up against Winsome Sears in the general election. Due to her experience and leadership, she has built a diverse coalition of supporters across the commonwealth including Congresswoman Elaine Luria, Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Alexander, Portsmouth Mayor Shannon Glover, Senators Dave Marsden and Lynwood Lewis, numerous other elected officials, and groups that support female candidates like the Virginia chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus and Virginia’s List.
Following her impressive debate performance, Councilmember Andria McClellan has released the following statement:
“I am the leader Virginia needs to tackle our challenges and seize our opportunities as our next Lieutenant Governor. As the only candidate from Hampton Roads and the only candidate with local government experience, I am uniquely qualified to lead Virginia out of this pandemic and into a more equitable future. With over 30 years of experience as a pragmatic problem solver, I look forward to hitting the ground running on day one as Virginia’s first female Lieutenant Governor.”
